in haiti's rubble. peggy fox shows us how search and rescue teams train for that kind of a mission. >> reporter: finding survivors under piles of concrete takes a delicate balance between heavy machinery and careful searching. >> once we get up to it, we can see if, in fact, we do have a victim. >> reporter: dc's search and rescue team practices these drills regularly. this concrete plant provides plenty of slabs to look through and drill under. >> when they're looking for possible victims, they start with a listening device. and with these headphones, they can hear even the tiniest of fingernail scratching. >> reporter: take a listen. they also use rotating cameras fitted on the end of extension poles. >> as i see a victim right there so i would notify the chief i can see a victim, a live victim. and then we would go and extricate that person. >> once they find somebody, then a rescue group comes in behind them to start digging. and that crew moves on to the next building. so they're always leapfrogging each other going from building to building to building. >> reporter: after all

gomez and hairstylist peggy iokum spending almost all day with michaele and tariq salahi. let me show you how they arrived today. never have i been at u.s. district court when a duo arrived in court in a white stretch hummer limo at 11 a.m. there was a bunch of photographers and the reporters waiting for them. they didn't comment. fox 5 was told that secret service did introduce gomez and iokum from approximately 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. after that, they testified separately before the federal grand jury. the sahaly, s spent several hours at the salon and spa the day of the state dinner as a film crew from bravo's real housewives d.c. shot footage of them preparing for the dinner. after the appearance before the federal grand jury, he briefly spoke to reporters. this is what he said. >> this was a big experience, but as an american citizens, i'm here to serve my country and that is all i have to say and i thank you for all the support and the support and love. >> reporter: gomez and iokum and their attorney didn't offer other details to what questions they were asked or how they res

and a critique you hear of this president from both the left and the right. peggy noonan said that on "meet the press" and moveon.org is saying that now. we elected a liberal president and where is that guy? but i think stay the course is a broader term than that. i mean, i don't give advice to presidents and they wouldn't listen to me if i did, but stay the course means, be yourself. the other phrase from that area was, you know, let reagan be reagan. this was used by so-called pragmatists in the white house. people who were getting the same grief rahm is getting now to let reagan be his inner-conservative self. but reagan was telling his people, i've got to get me a deal. reagan was a very pragmatic president. so if you think of stay the course in a broader way, i don't think president obama has to be an ideologue. >> the stay the course mantra back then was, stick to this program i'm on, it's going to pay dividends. but obama has something different to deal with that reagan didn't. reagan had a democratic congress to beat up on whenever he needed that boogiemen. he had to work with them,
